** HOW TO PLAY SAVE THE FARM** Save The Farm is your chance to aid America's farmer and to fight off their ever aggressive foes, the crow and the fox. With the use of your rifle, keen eye and quick reaction, you must protect the corn field and the hen house, in short, Save The Farm from disaster. DESCRIPTION OF SAVE THE FARM The game is played in three levels. The first level is unlocked, simple to play and you can easily learn to shoot most of the crows and foxes. Levels two and three become increasingly difficult and a challenge to achieve a high score. To play these levels, the game must be unlocked with a combination number that can be ordered for only $3.00 and a self addressed envelope, we'll pay the return postage. Please see the Unlock Menu for the Unlock Dialog and Print Order Form, to print the order form. I will return the combination code by return mail in your envelope so you should not have to wait more that a few days. We are also the creators of the highly popular "Hot Air Balloon" and "Sitting Duck" games. If you are a programmer or wish to be one, you can order the source code for these two games plus "Save The Farm" to learn the secrets of animation, sound effects, play music, CopyBits, OffScreenBitMaps, the Mac interface and a whole lot more. The source code will open a whole new world of programming to you in a simple logical format. The source code can be used with Turbo Pascal, TML Pascal and Think Pascal. Your help in distribution of LOCKED copies is requested. Your unlocked copy can be used for distribution by making a backup and then LOCKING the backup copy. Choose the Unlock Menu and select Unlock. The Unlocking/Locking Dialog will appear. Click on the "Lock For Distribution" button and the backup copy will be locked and can then be distributed. Please don't rip me off by distribution of unlocked copies. I have worked hundreds of hours to bring Save The Farm to its present level of entertainment for you. Rather than sell it at a higher price through a publisher I decided to make a much smaller profit for my efforts and give more users a chance to enjoy my game. Your help is appreciated. Thanks! As the game starts, the crows continually fly across the screen. If you are able to shoot them, you are awarded points. If you miss, the crows can, at random, dive into the corn field, eat the corn and you lose points. The fox randomly enters from the right of the screen and if you do not shoot him, he will wait in the Hen House. Once the fox gets his nose in the Hen House, he's safe and it's too late to score points. At random the fox will leave the Hen House to chase a chicken off the farm. If you shoot the fox you are awarded points. If the fox succeeds, he will eat the chicken and you also lose points. High scores can be saved when you have successfully completed all 3 levels and still have bullets left. This way you can play against yourself in future sessions. If you complete all three levels with a score higher than 1700 you can print out a personalized certificate of achievement. The level of play, timer for each level, current and high scores plus remaining shots left are displayed on the bottom of the screen. Sound effects are also included. You will hear the shot when the gun is fired. When a crow or fox are hit you will hear the splat. When a fox chases a chicken out to the Hen House you will hear the chicken cluck. PLANNING YOUR STRATEGY Since the crows dive into the corn field and the fox appears or leaves the Hen House at random, you never know when the crows will dive or the fox will appear. Just when you think it's OK to set up to shoot at one, the other is likely to appear. Foxes love to appear one right after the other. As the game progresses the flight of the crows is faster, the random flight altitudes are higher and the fox also runs faster. Once you commit yourself and set up to shoot at a crow or a fox, you cannot change your mind without wasting a shot. Watch the screen carefully and do not commit yourself to a shooting position until you are sure what you want to shoot at. Be careful, you only have 125 bullets to shoot. All this adds to faster action and you must plan your strategy. HOW TO SHOOT AND SCORING To prepare to shoot the crows, press the "B" key. To prepare to shoot the fox, press the Space Bar. For speed you might wish to place one finger on each and the mouse in the other hand. To shoot, press the mouse. A hit is scored if the shot hits the crow or "dusts" it's tail feathers. A hit for the fox is scored if it hits the fox before his nose is in the Hen House or off the right of the screen . Points for hits are 10 in Level 1, 25 in Level 2 and 50 in Level 3. If a crow dives into the corn field you loose 25 points. If the fox chases the chicken off the farm you loose 50 points. Your score must be 150 to advance to Level 2 and 500 to advance to Level 3. You have only 125 bullets. Have fun and ENJOY! Save The FarmĀ© 1990 Derrell (Bill) Clark. All Rights Reserved. Distribution of UNLOCKED copies is prohibited!
